Pedro Lopez (Pedro Alonso López) a Colombian serial killer and rapist known as The Monster of the Andes. López targeted young girls in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru between 1969 and 2002. He was arrested in 1980 and later convicted in 1983 of killing 110 young girls in Ecuador. López confessed to killing at least 300 victims. In 1994, Lopez was released from an Ecuadorian prison. He was rearrest and sent to a Colombian psychiatric hospital. López was released from the psychiatric hospital in 1998. In 2002, López was suspected of murder by Colombian authorities.

Pedro Lopez was born on October 8th 1948 in Santa Isabel, Colombian municipality of the department of Tolima, Colombia. He was born 7th of 13 children and raised by his mother until (Age 8), homeless until (Age 10), taken in by an American family until (Age 12), homeless until adulthood. López was raised as a middle child and had twelve brothers or sisters. His father, Medardo Reyes, a member of the Colombian Conservative Party. His mother, Benilda López De Casteneda, a local prostitute. His mother abused alcohol and/or drugs. During his education he had academic, social or discipline problems. Pedro Lopez was sexually, physically, and psychologically abused at some point of his life.
López a heterosexual, pedophile male citizen of Colombia. López completed 7 years of school, no degree received. López never married. He had no children.
Prior to his spree he had killed, commited crimes, served time in jail, and served time in prison. He was known to abuse drugs.
In 1969 (Age 20/21) Pedro Lopez started his killing spree, during his crimes as a serial killer he was known to strangle, stalk, rape, and murder his victims. At the time of his crimes he was living with himself, alone recently released from prison, where López was known to work as a serial killer.
He was arrested on March 9th 1980 (Age 31), convicted on January 25th 1981 (Age 32), sentenced to sixteen years imprisonment, released, fourteen years preventively detained, released at a psychiatric wing of a hospital in Bogotá, Colombia. López was convicted on charges of murder and other possible charges during his lifetime.
