Kaspars Petrovs a Latvian serial killer known as Würger von Riga (Strangler from Riga). Petrovs confessed to strangling thirty-eight elderly female residents of Riga, Latvia from 2000 to 2003. Petrovs followed the victims home and forcibly entered their apartments or posed as a gas company employee. Petrovs was initially charged with thirty-eight murders, eight attempted murders, and a number of theft and robberies. He was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the robbery and murder of thirteen elderly women due to a lack of evidence in the other cases.
