Mike DeBardeleben (James Mitchell DeBardeleben II) an American convicted kidnapper, rapist counterfeiter, and suspected serial killer who became known as the mall passer. A study from Radford University states he had an IQ of 127. Mike DeBardeleben died of pneumonia at the Federal Medical Center in Butner, North Carolina in early 2011.

Mike DeBardeleben was born on March 20th 1940 in Little Rock, capital of Arkansas, United States. He was born 2nd of 3 children and raised by both parents. He was raised as a middle child and had two brothers or sisters. His father, James Mitchell DeBardeleben Sr., an engineer and former lieutenant in WWII. His mother, Mary Lou Edwards, worked as a secretary. His mother abused alcohol and/or drugs. During his education he had academic, social or discipline problems, including being teased or picked on.
He took an intelligence quotient test before or after his crimes, Mike DeBardeleben had an IQ of 127. He completed 9 years of school, no degree received. He married Linda Weir in 1959, married Charlotte Weber in 1960, married Wanda Faye Davis in 1964, married Caryn in 1970, married Barbra in 1979. He had at least three children, Lindsey, Bethene.
Prior to his spree he had commited crimes, served time in jail, and served time in prison. He was known to abuse alcohol and drugs. He saw a psychologist and spent time in a Forensic Hospital.
In 1965 (Age 24/25) Mike DeBardeleben started his killing spree, during his crimes as a serial killer he was known to torture, strangle, stalk, rape, and murder his victims. Mike DeBardeleben used a weapon and was in possession of a firearm during his crimes. He would keep personal items from the victim after the crime. Mike DeBardeleben used a blindfold or simiar method of covering the victim's eyes. At least one victim was tied, bound, or otherwise restrained during the crime. At the time of his crimes he was living with himself, alone and with multiple wives in various locations, where he was known to work as a serial killer.
He was arrested on May 25th 1983 (Age 43), sentenced to 375 years in prison at the United States Penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kansas, US.
Mike DeBardeleben died on January 26th 2011 (Age 70), cause of death: natural causes, pneumonia at Federal Medical Center, Butner in Durham County, North Carolina, US.

James Mitchell "Mike" DeBardeleben (March 20, 1940 – January 26, 2011) was an American convicted kidnapper, rapist, counterfeiter, and suspected serial killer who became known as the "mall passer" due to his practice of passing counterfeit bills in shopping malls bordering interstate highways across the US. After his arrest for counterfeiting, the secret service found evidence linking him to much more serious sex crimes.
